Data Sources and Methodology
Public records arrive from many independent systems. Juniper Maps adds a consistent publication and geographic context layer.
Source types
Supported sources can include city, county, state, tribal, and federal APIs, feeds, GIS services, public files, and official dashboards covering transportation, weather, wildfire, public safety, public works, outages, earthquakes, and other public conditions.
Normalization and provenance
Source identifiers, titles, timestamps, links, categories, location precision, and geometry are converted into a common observation model while retaining the originating provider whenever available.
Geographic association
Records are not copied to every map. A record may qualify because its point or area intersects configured page coverage, because an operational buffer applies, or because an explicit nearby or regional publication rule applies.
Freshness and limitations
Every source has its own publication schedule. Feeds can be late, incomplete, duplicated, temporarily unavailable, or revised without notice. The map check time is not a guarantee that every agency published a new record at that moment.
